YOUR MOST DESIRED ANSWERS!

Unless you are an agent, chances are you don’t think about insurance every day. You ask us the questions and we have the answers!

Your Questions

WHY DO I NEED HIGHER COVERAGE?

Having the minimum coverage required by law affects you in many ways. If you have a claim that exceeds those limits, you are responsible for the difference. It also allows you to have higher uninsured and underinsured motorist, which protects you if someone doesn’t have insurance or not enough. This covers you if they injure you and your family. Make your money count!

IS THERE A DISCOUNT FOR AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS?

Most of the time there is, but not all the time. It depends on the company. Most companies offer a “preferred payment” discount while others charge less of a billing fee. There is a larger discount if you pay your premium in full.

DO I NEED WORKERS COMP?

That depends on whether you have employees or subcontractors. If you have commercial clients, a lot of them may require that you have it in order to do work for them. If you suspect you will have those accounts in the future or you may be hiring someone, it could be a good idea to get it when you start your policy so you don’t have to worry about it later.

WHY DOES MY FRIEND HAVE CHEAPER INSURANCE?

This is a loaded question. There are many factors such as the vehicles that are being insured, where you live, your credit, your insurance history, your driving record, your coverage, and many other things. There are too many factors to pinpoint where the difference is.

SHOULD I BUNDLE MY HOME AND AUTO?

That depends. One thing about an independent agency is we can tell you whether it makes sense. Sometimes the multi-policy discount is not enough. If your auto insurance is $1,000 and your home is $1000 with the discount, and your auto is $1,500 without the discount but a home quote elsewhere is $500. In this case it would clearly make sense to separate the policies.

WHY DO MY KIDS COST THAT MUCH?!?

They are young. Insurance is all about risk and in our time, we have a lot more distractions. Educating your kids on the dangers of driving while distracted will set them up for success in the future and keep your premiums as low as possible until they get their own policy. Young drivers tend to have more accidents and tickets and it impacts not only your premiums, but everyone else’s. Companies raise prices when they pay more or on larger losses.
